Pages

     Pages

Pages, the powerful word processor for Mac, has been completely redesigned for iPad. It’s the most beautiful word processor you’ve ever seen on a mobile device. Documents look stunning on the bright, vivid iPad display. Use Multi-Touch gestures to lay out letters, flyers, brochures, reports, and more. You can start with a template or import an existing Pages or Microsoft Word document from Mail, your MobileMe iDisk, or a WebDAV service.

Pages has everything you need to create and share documents, including beautiful Apple-designed templates, easy-to-use formatting options, and advanced layout tools. Start with the perfect template, create your document from scratch using your choice of colors, fonts, and textures, or import a Pages ’09, Microsoft Word or text file.

Pages also includes templates, including letters, projects, resumes, and page layout offerings like a poster, party invite, and more. A toolbar and style ruler appear when the iPad is in Portrait mode; you can use this to adjust paragraph and character styles, text alignment, tabs, pages and column breaks, custom fonts and colors, or to activate features like spell checking.  It also includes a built in dictionary. More importantly, it allows you to open, edit and view Pages or Microsoft Word documents from your PC or Mac.

Numbers

Numbers is a full functioning spreadsheet. You can zoom in and out of spreadsheets by pinching; create charts instantly by selecting the type you want to use and then just selecting the cells you want to chart and dragging and dropping them into place; and rotate between landscape and portrait modes to get the best view.  Numbers includes more than 250 mathematical functions, and you can create your own formula based on those functions. You can also create simple input forms using Pages--helpful for taking inventory, counting attendance, or performing various other tasks where you have to enumerate or categorize based on specific input criteria.  Most importantly, it allows you to open, edit and view Numbers and Excel documents from your PC or Mac.
